The research of Milica Milovanovic concerns strongly correlated, low-dimensional condensed matter systems. These include, nowadays, fractional quantum Hall systems with additional degrees of freedom like quantum Hall bi-layers. She developed a view of a bi-layer as a mixture of composite fermions and composite bosons, a special mixed state of particles of different statistics with unique properties. The non-Abelian structures of fractional quantum Hall systems and other strongly correlated (spin) systems seem a promising ground for construction of quantum computational devices. She studies these systems applying the methods
of low-dimensional quantum field theories.
